Non-fungible tokens (NFTs), a type of digital asset, have exploded in popularity this year, with NFT artworks selling for millions of dollars and musicians embracing them for their latest album.
The digital artist Mike Winkelmann, professionally known as Beeple, just sold an NFT—a “non-fungible token,” an asset on a cryptocurrency blockchain—of his image Everydays: the First 5000 Days at auction by Christie’s for $69,346,250. This is the third most expensive auction sale ever of a work by a living artist. And the buyer is based in Singapore.
There are daily developments in the NFT space, and it’s a good time to discuss beyond the hype of NFTs – Opportunities or just plain fad?
Blockchain Association of Singapore is pleased to host a panel session on this hot topic, with various expert representation from the different aspects of this nascent industry. We will cover issues like Intellectual Property rights, censorship, legality and compliance, tax and what real benefits it brings to the creator communities. And other issues the audience may want to ask or raise up for discussion.
